The lessons that started it all.

A guide to going the distance
First launched by Jacqueline Stallone in 2007, In the Eye of the Tiger brings together the interviews, film scenes and ideas Gerald gathered over years of following Stallone’s work. It asks how the determination we recognise on screen can guide an ordinary life.
Seven principles run from The World Meets Nobody Halfway to The Thrill of Victory: taking the blows and moving forward, refusing to throw in the towel, and finding the courage to pursue a dream before success is certain.
What is new in the 2026 edition?
The updated edition connects Gerald’s original research with later Stallone interviews and reflections around Rocky’s 50th anniversary. Themes include using insecurity as fuel, keeping a daily discipline, living with regret and writing a way back after difficult years.
Read it alongside My Rocky Story: One More Round: the companion explores the ideas; the memoir tells Gerald’s experience of putting them into practice.
